Over 1.300 young musicians from 16 countries and 5 continents make the SCL Festival one of the most important festivals of its kind in Europe.
On 5 days 32 orchestras, choirs and symphonic bands will perform in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland, as well as in the neighboring countries of Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
The musical youth of the world will present itself to the Central European audience at more than 20 venues, including Vienna's most important musical and cultural institutions: Musikverein, Konzerthaus, House of Music, St. Stephan's Cathedral and Hofburg.
This year a special emphasis will be on the concert series in the MuTh ? the concert hall of the Vienna Boys’ Choir.
From the 5th to the 7th of July concerts will be staged during the entire day at the newly ? built concert hall of the MuTh. The performing choirs, orchestras and bands come from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA, Israel, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, South Africa and several European countries. The SCL Festival Vienna is Austria’s premier global youth music festival for choirs, bands and orchestras.
Taking place every July in Vienna’s two main classical concert venues, the Golden Hall of the Musikverein and the Konzerthaus, it offers an international environment where a thousand young musicians enjoy intercultural exchanges and build bridges that span continents. Ensembles may participate either in the Competition or in the Celebration (non-competitive). Top professionals form the international juries in the Competition and teach our Academy program at the Vienna University of Music.
